SPRING/SUMMER, 2011, NEW YORK, NY. Studio E, makers of luxury hand painted and finished wallpapers, presents its latest collection. “We really enjoyed watching this collection take shape,” says Alexis Greene, President and Creative Director, “The launch is comprised of two very distinct looks, aimed at satisfying the need for earthy calm with a desire for playfulness and whimsy.”

For the first pair, the outdoors are definitely “in.” Introducing “Freya,” a lush, grassy, strie-- reminiscent of rough hewn, hand-split lumber-- offered in neutral hues - oat, wheat, cattail and cinder. Further a field, we get the dirt on “Tara” -inspired by architectural rammed earth and natural stone strata. Its banded layering is suggestive of sedimentary rock and fluid molten lava offered in shades of onyx, travertine and rust. “Nature never ceases to inspire.” Ms. Greene says, “Eco-awareness has us looking at nature in wholly new ways.” She continues,“Freya and Tara are slicker and more contemporary than natural fibers papers. They’re naturalistic in a chic and modern way.”

Studio E comes full circle with the second pair of papers that form the new collection. Bubbly “Kiki” evokes candy dots and pop art. For “Juno,” bouncy rings of color float atop a shimmering pearl Venetian Plaster background. Both effervescent patterns are offered in lolli-pop shades of lemon-lime, blueberry, wintergreen, banana, cherry and licorice. “Since we derive inspiration from fashion, we incorporated the bursts of brightness we’re seeing on the runways” says Ms. Greene. “We typically focus on subtle color, so this was a departure for us. As artists and designers we are always pushing envelopes –to keep things fresh and evolving. It brings attention to the line and introduces us to new audiences.”

Four types of wallpaper (the only-of-its-kind “Venetian Plasters”, “Metallics”, “Natural Fibers” and “Broken Color/Glaze Work”) form an harmonious collection, whose worldwide installations include residential interiors, luxury retail and top hospitality properties.
